The Roserbrothers hosted the latest UXnite in their fantastic studio last night. Dan Scharf and Philipp Minel shared their views on where we‘re currently heading as (UX) designers in uncertain AI times.
I’ve somewhat felt at ease after the talks. I don’t share the dystopian AI take that many LinkedIners love to spread. Nor do I consider AI to be our salvation.
Delivery and speed have never been the core issue. Real innovation and creativity is something that language models fail to replicate in a quality that is more than mediocre. That’s where designers shine.
Technology and automation have always been constant in a designer’s life to disrupt but also to accelerate and enable (FE frameworks, WordPress, Squarespace, prototyping tools and now aka since ~4 years GenAI).
So the end for designers is anything but nigh. I reckon the larger group felt the same way after last night.
Thank you Lisa and Dan for a wonderful get-together in Fellbach! Probably one of the smaller UXnites, yet just as (or even more) welcoming and inspiring nonetheless :)
