Den Satz “ich müsst mal wieder laufen gehen” hatte er durch seine häufige Verwendung, aber nicht Umsetzung, ins Lächerliche gezogen. 4 1/2 Jahre Studium und 2 Jahre Arbeit fordern ihren Tribut. Waschbär und Rollmops haben es sich schon bequem gemacht. Und dann kam es, das Radl! Und fortan radelte er.

Und nun muss ich ne Pause einlegen, weil die Beinchen doch ziemlich arg ziehen und der Muskelkater täglich mitradelte. Ein paar Worte zum täglichen Weg zur Arbeit: die Zeit schwankt bei 40 bis 50 min. Morgens gönne ich mir meist das Boot, um die Themse zu überqueren, abends dann die neue East London Line. Ab und an radel ich den kompletten Weg. Abends bin ich aber meist zu platt.

Und etwas für die Glotzis gibt es auf dem Weg auch wie z.B. die Cutty Sark (wird gerade restauriert), den Greenwich Foot Tunnel/die Themse, die Hochhäuser in Canary Wharf und auch Victoria Park. Und in die Glotzis gibt es auch was – der Straßenstaub und die Abgase sind mitunter doch recht nervig und der Gegenwind ist vor allem nahe der Themse sehr kräftezehrend.

Hackney Road

Die Wahl in GB ist vorbei. Die Entscheidung steht noch nicht fest in welcher Konstellation künftig auf der Insel regiert wird. Fakt ist, dass die jetzige Regierung bald passé sein wird. Scheint als würde der neue Regierungschef jener sein, dem man kurz vor der Wahl noch an der Station in Hither Green übers Gesicht laufen konnte. Die Propaganda hat (leider) nichts genutzt.

Tragic loss, but no news: Hackney Empire will draw its curtain due to financial difficulties this spring. Nicole and I had the chance to attend the pantomime “Aladdin” and a talent show in that impressive venue within one week. Do not do the same horrible mistake to confuse mime artist and pantomime (see wikipedia), you’ll be served the complete opposite of a German “Pantomime”.

The “Borough Shield” contest turned out to be a hip hop and r’n'b driven Hackney variation of X-Factor (DSDS) that called youngsters from various London boroughs to give their best performance. The most thrilling moment was definitely watching the policemen at the entrance supported by security and metal detectors. Later on during the show, wisdom has been spread amongst the viewers. Flyers informed you about the consequences of knife and gun crime:

“You get five years for carrying a gun and one year for every bullet in the gun.” Anyways, all in all we saw great synchronised dancing, listened to mediocre singing and sat in an impressive atmosphere thanks to the glorious architecture and the crazy audience.
